Candy Cane Place Card Holders
The holiday season is all about adding those little touches that make celebrations feel extra special. If you’re planning a festive gathering this year, why not kick things off with a fun and charming addition to your table setting? Candy cane place card holders are the perfect way to combine holiday cheer with functionality.
These whimsical holders not only guide guests to their seats but also double as delightful decorations that bring a playful, seasonal flair to your table. Whether you’re hosting a cozy family dinner or a larger holiday party, candy cane place card holders are a sweet way to infuse a little extra magic into your celebration.

Hosting family and friends for Christmas celebrations is one of my favorite things. Whether it’s a hot chocolate party, meeting for a Christmas lights scavenger hunt, having a Christmas baking day, or hosting Christmas Eve dinner, gathering is the best part of the season.
Whether it’s my own little family, or extended with family and friends, setting a pretty table is part of the fun for me. Simplicity is my mantra, and easy + cute is always my go-to. These darling Christmas place card holders are both of those things. You need very few supplies, and about two minutes to make one, and they’ll look so adorable on your table!

Supplies
- Candy canes (this will work with regular size or mini)
- Hot glue gun OR scotch tape
- Ribbon
How to make
Take two of the candy canes and put the long sides together, slightly angled out so that you can set a place card on it. Hot glue them together–which is what I recommend. However, you can use scotch tape or a piece of packing tape to wrap around the candy canes if you don’t have hot glue.

Turn the candy canes over, place hot glue down the middle of the two that are already together, and put the third candy cane on top. This is the one that will help the place card holder to stand upright.

Tie ribbon around the top of the place card holder. You can also tie your bow, then adhere it to the front with hot glue if you prefer. I ended up using hot glue, because I could get the ribbon to lay better. But either way works!

My favorite ribbon for this is a 5/8 inch velvet red ribbon. It’s just so lovely, and adds an elegant touch. I love it in red, moss green, and cream– depending on my decor. You could also do a grosgrain or silk ribbon–for whatever look you’re going for.

I’ve created these darling place cards, and I’m excited to share them with you. Two versions available–with or without “Merry Christmas”. Once finished, you can create a new Word doc. Insert your images (Insert > Pictures > Pictures from file), and size as desired. Mine are 4 inches from each border line to the other, horizontally. Print on to white cardstock, and cut to size.
