Apple Picking: Fall Tradition
Looking for a fun way to enjoy the crisp fall weather with family and friends? Make apple picking a must-do on your autumn bucket list, and check the list for u-pick farms in your state!

Apple picking is a long standing fall tradition, and one that our family looks forward to each year. It started when our family was just beginning, and almost every place we’ve lived we’ve been able to find apple orchards to visit. Picking apples, drinking cider, trying the best cider doughnuts, enjoying the crisp fall air, and being together as a family (often with friends too) are all part of this much-loved activity.

Fall family tradition
Apple picking has been one of our favorite fall traditions for many years, and it’s something we look forward to every year. There’s just something special about spending a crisp autumn day wandering through the orchard, filling baskets with apples, and enjoying all the little things that make the experience memorable. We love trying different orchards, discovering new apple varieties, and sampling all the delicious treats along the way. Whether it’s warm cider, fresh apple doughnuts, homemade pies, or simply finding the perfect apple to take home, there’s always something to enjoy. Best of all, it’s a tradition that brings everyone together and creates the kind of simple fall memories that we’ll cherish for years to come.
If you’re looking for special ways to spend time together as a family or with friends, venture out to go apple picking, and spend a beautiful autumn day outside enjoying what nature has to offer. It’s fun for all ages!
U-pick apple orchards in each state
Our favorite apple farm when we lived in New York also had all kinds of pumpkins, gourds, hydrangeas, sunflower heads, and a plethora of fall offerings. When we moved to the mountains of North Carolina, I was hoping we would find something we love, and we did! Every state, and every orchard have been a little different, and we’ve found our favorite things at each one. Sometimes it’s the variety of apples, or the best cider doughnut, or the view (Blue Ridge Parkway is hard to beat!)

Good news!! There are apple orchards in most states, including those with u-pick apples. Check out the resources below for your state and area.

Walking in this orchard made me feel like a part of Anne of Green Gables, can you feel it?
