My family room is mostly in creams and whites, which I love. With a neutral color palette, a touch of greenery can bring life and color to the space, while still maintaining the overall look.
I love this room during the holidays because of all the fresh greenery, and it just seemed so bare when it came down. I knew that I wanted something in there year round to bring that same feeling. However…maintaining a live tree is a lot of work, and admittedly, I don’t think I’d be that good at it! While we get plenty of sun in that room, I didn’t want to commit to taking care of a live tree indoors, especially because we already have so much outside.
So I went looking. I’m not usually one for faux plants of larger sizes, but when I found a gorgeous 7.5 foot faux olive tree, I knew it was perfect. It’s a simple addition, but one that makes a huge difference. Even my kids noticed!

Most potted faux olive trees I found come in very small pots. Unless it’s a very short tree, it really needs a larger pot or basket for aesthetic balance. I found a really cute seagrass basket for a great price and it works perfectly!
It was one of my favorite purchases, and love love the difference it’s made.

If you’re looking to spruce up your space and add some greenery to a room, take a look at this collection. There are certainly faux trees that look plastic-y and artificial, but I was impressed with these options that look real. There are different price points and heights included, depending on budget and space. I also looked carefully at reviews and ratings, and researched these options not just for you, but as if I was purchasing them myself.
SwinDuck 90-inch Olive Tree
When I bought my tree, there were two different options under the same listing–one for a slightly taller (92 inches) minimalist tree and a 90-inch classic tree. I purchased the minimalist option, which is not available as of this posting. If you’re interested in that one, I’d keep checking back–it may be possible they will restock. I wanted to include this one, because I went back and forth between the two, and really liked them both! They’re made by the same company, and I’m really impressed by the high quality look and feel of my tree. With all 5-star reviews, others feel the same way, and it’s a very realistic tree.
I really like the height of these trees, and they’ll work very well with higher ceilings. I have vaulted ceilings in my family room, so I was looking for taller trees. This is not the pot that comes with it–you’ll need to purchase something separately.
VYNT 82-Inch Artificial Olive Tree
With perfect 5-star ratings, this olive tree is clearly a customer favorite. At 7 feet tall, it also works for higher ceilings, and also if you want it to nearly reach an 8-foot ceiling. Reviewers cite the realistic trunk and branches, how easy it is to put together, and how much they love it!
NOKEZM 4-FOOT Artificial OLIVE TREE
At 4 feet tall, this is another size option depending on your space. It would look great in front of a fireplace! As of this posting, there are not too many reviews, but they all give 5 stars. They describe a realistic-looking tree with branches that are easy to bend into place after being received. It also comes in a black pot, and I recommend buying one separately to put it into.
Nearly Natural 82-inch Artificial Olive Tree
This is a beautiful vertical option–and looks closer to the type of tree in my family room. It’s a definite customer favorite, with more than 215 5-star reviews! It’s also a taller height, at 82 inches, and ideal for higher ceilings. I love this look because it goes with so many different styles–everything from farmhouse (like me) to boho, minimalist, and more. Q. How tall should my faux olive tree be? What size olive tree should I get?
The height depends on your space, and where the tree will go. Consider shorter trees (less than 6 feet) for lower ceilings. Taller than 6 or 7 foot trees work well for higher or vaulted ceilings, entryways, and foyers. That said, you don’t need to skimp on height if you want a tree to fill a space. If your ceilings are 8 or 9 feet, and you are trying to fill a corner or space within a room, a taller 6 or even 7 foot tree would still work. It will elongate a room, and bring eyes up to the ceiling, just like hanging curtains up higher give the same effect.
Q. Do I need to buy a separate pot for my faux olive tree? How do I plant my faux olive tree?
Many of the artificial olive trees you buy come in a smaller, often black, pot. While they’re heavy enough to keep the tree in place, aesthetically they will look better with a more substantial pot or basket. Depending on the style you’re looking for, there are many available options. Choose one large enough to cover the original pot.

The beauty of an olive tree is that it works in so many spaces. I’m thinking of every room in my house, and I could put one in each of them almost! They’re so versatile, and bring life to any space.
