After six years in Old Salt Farm, I finally added white curtains to our family room. Now I’m not sure why I waited so long, I absolutely love how they’ve transformed the space. I can’t believe what a difference they make, and even my kids have noticed and commented on how much bigger the room looks.

Most of the curtains in my home are IKEA Ritva white curtains, and have been my go-to for years. However, they hadn’t been in stock or available to ship to my area in more than two years, so I went hunting for another set that I would love just as much. I was looking for a great price, longer lengths, and a fabric that lets in light but not too much.

And I found the best white curtains! I was so excited to put them up, and even more excited when they turned out to be everything I was looking for.

Curtain lengths, price, and specifics

They come in 72 inch, 96 inch, and 108 inch lengths. Our family room has tall vaulted ceiling, but the lowest point at top of the wall is 9 feet. I chose the 108 inch length, and placed the curtain rods right where the wall and ceiling intersect. The curtains brush against the floor, which is the look I really like.

There are several hanging options to choose from, including grommet, back loop, and top loop. I went with the back loop, which creates more of a pleated, classic look. The description refers to them as a cotton slub fabric, and I wasn’t sure if they’d look too casual. We don’t have a fancy family room by any means, definitely more cozy, but I also didn’t want a super casual curtain either. When I got them, I was happy to see that wasn’t the case, and they actually look very similar to the Ritva once they’re hanging.

And…they’re only $42 for a set of two panels! Such a deal! I’m definitely always in budget mode, and especially in this room which has three walls of windows.

All of the windows in this room look out into the woods, with gorgeous views, so we won’t hang any blinds in addition to the curtains. It’s nice to have the option to slide them closed when the sun glare comes in too brightly, and they filter the light perfectly.
