Simple Farmhouse Summer Porch
I can’t believe we are already talking about summer decorating! Not even a month ago, there was snow here at Old Salt Farm, so it’s a summer miracle that all of our trees are completely green and filled out. I just finished the last touches on my simple farmhouse summer porch, and it feels like the perfect way to give summer a huge welcome!

Simple + Fresh Farmhouse Summer Porch
My mantra when decorating anything is simplicity, and that extends to my front porch. I really love clean, fresh, simple–and on my farmhouse summer porch that means crisp white rockers, blue gingham pillows and rug, and vintage galvanized buckets filled with white flowers.
I absolutely adore anything gingham, and blue gingham is summertime perfection. It kind of makes me giddy, actually. And the vintage olive buckets have to be one of my most favorite purchases EVER. I use them all through the year–pine trees in the winter, flowers in the summer, and pumpkins in the fall. They’re so versatile, and are perfect for any farmhouse porch!
I love having a flag up on our home throughout the summer. We celebrate two patriotic holidays through the summer months, and it is one of my favorite things to see when I pull in our driveway, or sit out on the porch.
Decorating a porch doesn’t have to be overwhelming, and you don’t need a lot to make it inviting and welcoming for your guests. Start simple–your favorite flowers next to the door, and a cute welcome mat or two. I tried the layering look this summer for the first time, and I really like it! I usually choose white flowers, because I go for an overall color scheme–blue and white this year–but if you love lots of color, then flowers are the perfect way to achieve that. If your porch is shaded, just make sure you choose flowers that are part sun, or will work in your space.
If you have room for rockers or a porch swing, they totally speak summer–and they’re perfect for enjoying the beautiful summer mornings, evenings, or anytime at all.

Love the pillows on the rocket chairs! Did you make or purchase those? They perfectly match the mat!
Really enjoyed looking at your front porch … thanks for sharing:) The view you have from it is magnificent! Would you mind sharing where you purchased the house lights that you have hanging between your front door? Thanks much!
Thank you, Penny!! Light info: They’re by Transglobe, model number 4970, in black. There are different sizes, plus the hanging version I have on my back entrance! They’re called the 1-light coach lantern. I got them from the lighting vendor our builder works with, but if you google them, you can get them several different places, including Amazon.
Hope that helps!! xo
What are the plants in the olive buckets
Teresa, I’m so sorry, I cannot remember! I’ll look through my notes and see if I have it written down somewhere.
