Simple Farmhouse Kitchen Update ideas

We replaced our dining chairs and kitchen stools for simple farmhouse kitchen update, and I love the results! It gave the space a whole new look, without breaking the bank.

Updating a few things in my kitchen and dining area has been on my list for awhile now, and I’ve been replacing them slowly. I changed out the farmhouse pendant lights over our kitchen island, and they’re exactly what I was looking for. Next up? Kitchen stools and dining room chairs. Since we have a really open kitchen and dining space, I had to make sure that they would work well together. I’ve been on the hunt, and finally this week was the week! It’s remarkable how you don’t have to change much for it to make a big difference in the overall space, and even my kids were commenting about it!

We built kitchen benches for our island when we first moved in to Old Salt Farm six years ago. They’ve served us very well, not just for their functionality, but also aesthetic. Not to mention they’re very cost effective, especially when you’re on a budget. With six kids, we were able to fit three to a bench at our kitchen island, and it was perfect.

UPDATING FARMHOUSE KITCHEN STOOLS

Now that our kids are growing and older, it’s harder to fit three to a bench! I knew it was finally time to get stools, but I didn’t want to spend a lot, and I wanted them to fit well with our kitchen. My kitchen has a mix of wood, white, and accents of matte black, and I went on the hunt to find stools that would work. I found them!

They’re perfect in this space! And at $79 for two, they’re super affordable stools for any farmhouse kitchen. I love the wood tops and black finish legs, plus they’re comfy to sit in. Six stools fit around our island…one for each child!

Matte Black Farmhouse Dining Chairs

The second update I made was the dining chairs around our kitchen table. My current chairs were cream, and though I loved them, I felt I needed a little more contrast in the space. Not to mention I’ve always been in love with this style of farmhouse dining chairs. Finally I decided it was time, and I made the switch to these darling black farmhouse dining chairs. I’m in love! It was cute–when all of my kids saw them for the first time, they told me how much they loved them too!

Black Farmhouse Dining Chairs

At a little over $150 per chair, they weren’t inexpensive, but definitely much less than many of the same style that I looked at.

  1. Hi– I have stained my chairs and table using a Provincial stain. I love the white you have. What color is it?

    1. Hi, Laurin! The white in my house is Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore–walls, trim. Hope that is what you’re looking for! Let me know if you have another questions.
