I really love Christmas trees throughout the house. Every year as a family tradition, we cut down trees and put them up in addition to a couple of artificial trees. Last year I decided to put a real tree in my piano room, and that was the not only the first, but definitely the last time! The rug + pine needles was a disaster — not a good combination. I was thrilled when King of Christmas sent me their 9 foot Rushmore Fir, and I knew this would be the perfect space.

Simplicity is my favorite style, and I chose decor with a vintage, old-fashioned feel. I fell in love with this particular tree because it looks so much like the trees we see when we’re out cutting down our real trees. It’s not a full branch style, and I was drawn to that, particularly for this space. Together the combination is just what I envisioned, and I love it!

velvet bows

I decided on velvet bows, which are one of my staples, but this year I went with a burgundy color instead of my typical true red. I absolutely love the color–it’s a deeper hue that feels very elegant. Instead of shorter bow tails, I found bows with very long tails, so their presence is much bigger on the tree. I love the way they drape and hang down the branches — so beautiful. When using the longer bows, you also need less of them on the tree. This is a 9 foot tree, and I used two packs (12 ribbons).

Clip-on Candles

One of my favorite tree ornaments is additional lighting! I love the way the candles look on the tree, and they add just that perfectly cozy touch. I found mine for about a dollar each ($25 for a pack of 24), and they covered this tree well. Definitely giving the old-fashioned vibes, which I absolutely love.

ticking tree skirt

This was a lucky find! I adore ticking–it’s one of my very favorite patterns, and I love anything I see that uses it. It’s very much a cottage farmhouse design, and so when I came across a red ticking tree skirt in my search, and it was big enough to fit the wide tree stand on this tree, I jumped for joy! It’s so well-made, with darling buttons for the enclosure. It comes in a couple of different sizes, going all the way up to 60 inches. Best of all, it was in a darker red/burgundy hue, so it matched my bows perfectly.

King of Christmas Tree

This is our second tree from King of Christmas, and it’s just reaffirmed how much I love their trees. Not only are they so easy to put up (literally minutes), the branches are incredibly realistic, as are their tree designs. I’ve spent a lot of time looking at and cutting down trees over the years, and the similarities are striking.

One of my favorite features are the lights. I don’t love many LED tree lights because of the cool, almost green hue. They look fine in the day, but in the evenings you can especially tell. But these lights are a lovely warm white, and it makes me so happy!

They do offer trees at several different price points, and they have some really great options in their clearance section (I always look there first!), even around $200. For a high-quality tree, that’s a great price.
