Vintage Farmhouse Kitchen Sinks

All the details about our vintage style farmhouse kitchen sinks, and how they add charm to our cottage farmhouse.

The first farmhouse sink I’ve had in a home was at Old Salt Farm, and I absolutely loved it. It had been on my “want” list forever, and continued to be one of my favorite things in my kitchen. So when we started building Cottage on Blackberry Hill, vintage sinks were on the list for the kitchen, and as many other sinks as possible! Here you’ll find the the kitchen sink I chose, along with a drainboard sink in the laundry (that could also be used in a kitchen), as well as the farmhouse sinks in the scullery and rec room.

I looked for a long time on Facebook Marketplace and other sites for true vintage sinks, but I was never able to find anything that worked for our home. Cast iron sinks were also considered, and while they are gorgeous, were above our price point. The hunt was on for a beautiful sink that lent vintage style, would hold up to a busy household, and met our budget.

High back kitchen sink

Through my research I came across a lot of farmhouse sinks, and many of them I loved. In the end, I was drawn to the uniqueness of this sink, and the overall vintage style it exudes. The high back, and style of the front apron won me over! To say I’m in love with this sink is an understatement.

At 30 inches, it’s spacious enough to fit any pot or pan I could need to wash. I adore the high back not only for the aesthetic, but also because it keeps water away from behind the sink. That was only discovered after we moved in, and it was a happy discovery. The higher edges on the side also contribute to less water on my counters. It’s one of the focal points of the kitchen, and definitely adds to the overall feel of the entire space. I found a gorgeous vintage faucet with a sprayer that was meant to be!

The faucet looks a little different than mine, but it’s the same one! There are options for the handle design and metal. I chose the cross handles, in a chrome finish. The sprayer can be adhered to a wall or the sink, but we hang it on the faucet itself, and it works like a charm!

Drainboard sink

When I was searching for kitchen sinks, I came across one that I fell in love with immediately. I actually considered it for the kitchen, and I’ve seen some use it in that space, but I decided on it for the laundry room. Best decision ever. It’s 42 inches wide, with a large sink and of course the drainboard on the right side. The high back and rounded corners? Perfection.

If this was made of cast iron, it would have been very pricey. But this seller handcrafts them from reinforced cast acrylic, with the result being a “charming and improved reproduction of a classic 1920-30s vintage farmhouse drainboard sink”. This also brings the price point down and made it perfect for our budget. It’s very easy to wipe down and keep clean. I love having the drainboard in the laundry room, because it makes it so easy to lay out wet clothes to treat them, and it’s not on my countertop!

The sink is surface mounted, and 42 inches in width. The faucet comes in additional metal options, and they’ll each give you a different look. I chose the chrome because I love the vintage feel it lends, especially with the sink. But I’ve always loved black too, so I considered it as well!
