Sweet Chex Mix Recipe

A homemade Sweet Chex Mix Recipe that is irresistible and perfect for both snacking and giving. Make it for the holidays, or just because! Thanksgiving and Christmas gift tags also included.

A good snack mix is invaluable because it’s so versatile, and I love making them for the holidays. Cupid Crunch for Valentine’s Day and a Halloween Trail Mix are a couple of our favorites. But this one is great because it can work for any gathering, party, season, or holiday–it’s an all around favorite snack mix that everyone will love to munch on. And it’s also great for the big game, packing in lunches, putting out to serve to guests or on family game night.

This isn’t the savory Chex Mix you might be familiar with–instead it’s a sweet version made with butter and brown sugar and baked to perfection. (No corn syrup!) Customize it as you like with extra mix-ins, and you’ve got not only a great snack for guests, but a fun and easy gift idea.

You will love how simple and easy it is–an uncomplicated recipe that you will want to make over and over again!

Over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add the salt and vanilla, and mix well.

Slowly pour it over the cereal mixture, then stir until everything is well coated.

Spread the coated mixture evenly on the half sheet pan. Bake for 60 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

FAQ

Can I omit the nuts?

Yes, if there is an allergy or you’d rather not include them, you can omit from the recipe.

Do I need to use all three cereals?

The flavor combo is the best with all three, but if you need to only use two of them, you can. Just be sure to use the same total amount of cereal and make up the difference.

How to store

Store in an airtight container for 3-5 days.

Do you pack the brown sugar? I did and it turned out fine. I like this recipe because it is not gooey and sticky like corn syrup recipes but still sweet.

    1. Yes, I pack the brown sugar. I’m so glad you loved it too! I also like it for the reason you mentioned as well.
