Mason Jar Christmas Gift Idea & Chalkboard Printable

Looking for a quick, easy, and adorable Christmas gift? This Mason Jar Christmas Gift with Chalkboard Printable is all of those things!

I love mason jars, and they are one of my very favorite ways to package gifts and treats.  For Christmas gifts this year I decided to fill them with one of our favorite treats…Muddy Buddies! They’re perfect for friends, neighbors, and more.

A few simple embellishments took the jar from plain to festive—a candy cane, a bit of pine, and a little baker’s twine were all I needed to make this Christmas Mason Jar Gift!

When I made the Muddy Buddies, I added crushed peppermint to the mix, and it makes it even more perfect for the holidays.

Chocolate Peppermint Muddy Buddies

Old Salt Farm
A perfect combination of peppermint, chocolate, and crunch! A yummy addition to your holiday baking and gift-giving.
Prep Time 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 9 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 candy canes, crushed

Instructions

  • Combine chocolate chips, butter, and peanut butter in a microwaveable bowl. Microwave for 1 minute on high, then another 30 seconds until you can stir the mixture smooth. Stir in vanilla.  Place the Rice Chex cereal into a large bowl, then pour the chocolate mixture over the top of it and mix well.
  • Pour mixture into a large 2 gallon bag, then add the powdered sugar.  Seal the bag and shake until it's coated by the powdered sugar. Open the bag, add in the crushed peppermint and shake again.

I’m including the chalkboard tags for you to use if you’d like! I have larger and smaller versions–the larger tag is fits a wide mouth mason jar lid, and the small tag fits a regular mouth mason jar lid.

You can also use large clear treat bags if you’re making a bunch of them and want to save money. I did this when I made them for neighbor gifts, and had a big list.  I still added the candy cane and greenery, plus the tag and twine–totally cute, but better for budget when you’re doing a lot.

  1. hi there! How would I print out these adorable mason jar labels so that I could stick them on the jar? Do you recommend a certain adhesive paper to use? Can’t wait to make these for Christmas this year! Thanks so much! – Haley

    1. Hi, Haley! I use Silhouette adhesive cardstock quite a bit: https://amzn.to/2TxTy4i (affiliate link). I like the heavier weight of the cardstock. You could also use full sheet white labels! https://amzn.to/2qYhQr6

      Merry Christmas!!! xoxo
