Welcome To Town! {FREE PRINTABLE}

I’ll never forget the day we moved into town.  My husband had just finished graduate school, and this was the first place we were going to live that was “for real”…not for school, but for an actual job.  It’s not a big town, in fact, it’s on the smaller side, but that didn’t stop me from feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of trying to figure everything out, from stores and parks to libraries, dentists, doctors and more.  We had just made a huge move across the country for school a couple of years before, and had finally felt settled when it was time to move again. Starting from scratch is hard, no matter why or where you’re moving!

I created this fun and easy “welcome to town” survival guide that’s perfect to give to a new friend or neighbor that’s just moved to town.  It’s small and compact, and can easily tuck into a purse or diaper bag for easy reference. You can fill them in on all the best places in town…groceries, restaurants, libraries, parks, farmers markets, outdoor activities, hair salons, and all the other tidbits that would be so helpful right from the start. Tie this book onto a bag of treats with a ribbon, and you’ve got a wonderful gift that anyone would appreciate.

I included a cover page, and 5 information cards:  food, services, shopping, things to do, and a blank one for favorites.  Favorites in my town would include blueberry patches, baseball games, cider mills, the farmer’s market, and city forest–you can add anything you love about where you live and want to share with them.

SUPPLIES:
  • white cardstock
  • plastic name badge holders (2.5 x 3.3)
  • book ring
  • ribbon
DIRECTIONS:

Print the pdf file (download below) and cut out the pages with a paper trimmer. Fill in the blanks with the information you’d like to share. Slide the pages into the name badge holders, and put them on to the book ring.  Tie a few pieces of ribbon on the ring, and ta-da, you’re done!
