Pink & Gold Girls’ Bedroom

A darling pink & gold girls’ bedroom reveal…my twin girls’ room is finally finished! I’m sharing all the details, and how it came together.  It’s a little bit shabby chic, and a little bit modern…the perfect combo for these two!

Pink & Gold Girls’ Bedroom

This bedroom has been a work in progress nearly since we moved in to Old Salt Farm a year and a half ago.  Working with two girls who have slightly different tastes, and finding something they both liked was a bit tricky, but in the end, we came up with a design that they both love. It’s also the first time I designed a room where they had a lot of input–and I’m proud of myself for letting them make a lot of the choices–even the modern ones. (I don’t have modern bone in my body!)

I started with the bedding, which is always the easiest place for me to start.  I used it as a guide for the rest of the room–colors and style–and once we had the pink and black, the gold came very naturally. I adore the pink quilt and heart sheets…so super cute, and it works for girls of all ages.  The design is by Emily & Merritt from Pottery Barn Teen, and they also have the darling kitty pillow that works perfectly with it.  The black and white rug is a super cute complement, and adds another fun pattern that the girls love.

I brought in the gold with the sequined pillows on the beds, and the gold dots on the wall.  I actually eyeballed the dots…I started out with a level, and I quickly decided that it was going to take much too long.  I’m really good with just using my eyes to judge distance, so I went with it–and it only took me about 15 minutes!  They’re the perfect accent on the wall, and really bring everything together.

They really needed desks and chairs in their room to work on homework, and other projects and I love the ones I found. The crisscross design adds style, and since they’re a creamy white, they work well with the iron beds, which are also that same color.  I love using a crisp white and creamy white in the same space, but making sure it’s balanced is the key. My girls chose the chairs, and they fell in love with the modern black desk chairs.

My girls love all things Paris, and so the Eiffel Tower lamp base was the perfect choice for the top of the desk.  I found the gold polka dot lampshade, and it’s adorable! I add flowers in just about every room in my house, and their room was no exception.

As soon as I saw this quote, I knew I needed it in my girls’ room.  I absolutely LOVE it.

That left the blank walls on the side of their beds, and open bookshelves were just the right thing. We built them to fill the large wall space, and since they love to read, it’s the perfect way to have their favorites at their fingertips.

They also have a loft in their room, with a ladder on the wall.  They do art, read, and use it as a hang out space.  For storage, I keep white crates under their beds for all of their things—and they slide easily when they need to be accessed.

It’s a really great space, and I just love that they love it!
