Meet the Mormons…Meet Me!

Meet These Mormons | oldsaltfarm.com

Today you’re going to learn a little more about me–the girl behind the blog :) One thing you may not know is that I’m a Mormon–I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.   I’m excited to team up with over 65+ blogger friends that are also Mormons, to extend an invitation to see a film entitled “Meet The Mormons”.  You may have wondered who the Mormons are, and what we’re all about, and this film is an honest look addressing that very thing.  If you’ve been curious, and just want to know what makes us tick, this is a movie for you!

This film is not meant to be an “in your face” /you must join our church film. It is simply designed and produced to uplift and inspire you through six stories of those of our faith who have followed promptings to follow Christ more fully in their lives. We hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this film. We hope your hearts are made light as you feel the goodness that comes from following our Christ and Savior. All proceeds from the film will be donated to The American Red Cross. So not only will you be uplifted and inspired, your money will be going to an amazing charity!!

Meet the Mormons | oldsaltfarm.com

 Here’s a peek into the film…

We also would like to take a moment and share our personal testimonies, stories of our own personal conversions, and our own stories of how following our Savior, Jesus Christ has changed our lives. The light of the gospel of Jesus Christ offers a joy and hope that only following him can provide. We hope as you click through and read our stories and testimonies of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, you will feel uplifted and encouraged. We are by you! We love connecting with our readers, that is why many of us do what we do! Please be kind and considerate in your comments. It takes great bravery for us to open our hearts and our mouths to share with you such a tender and personal part of who we are. We share because we feel strongly the need to share the peace and the hope that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

…..

The last part of September, my baby girl, Caroline, was hospitalized for two weeks, and just got home last week. The majority of that time she was in the ICU,  intubated and sedated because she couldn’t breathe on her own.  She was diagnosed with Severe Respiratory Failure due to Bronchiolitis and Pneumonia, and it was one of the scariest things I’ve ever gone through as a mother.  I watched her struggle to breathe, suffer from withdrawal symptoms due to the drugs she received to sedate her (she didn’t sleep for 72 hours at one point), then be diagnosed with a blood clot in her right leg. I didn’t leave the hospital for the entire two weeks, and watched her go through some really traumatic things that fortunately led to her recovery and release. Many, many prayers were said on her behalf by family and friends who rallied behind us.  I also said many prayers, not only that she would get better, but that I would be able to be okay and accept whatever was to be the outcome. Several doctors and nurses commented on how calm I was throughout the whole process, and part of that is just my personality–calm in a crisis. But it was more than that—I felt a peace and calm I just cannot describe, but it carried me throughout an extremely difficult two weeks, and I know it came from my Father in Heaven. I was never alone.

My testimony is very simple, but it comes from the deepest part of me.  My beliefs are the driving force in all that I do, and they guide my decisions as a wife, mother, friend, daughter, aunt, neighbor, and human being.  My example is Jesus Christ, and I strive to emulate Him in all that I do. I have a strong testimony that families are not just for here on this earth, but forever. I’m so grateful for the power of prayer,  for the opportunity we have to have a way to speak to our Father in Heaven and for the peace that it brings me. Our Heavenly Father knows YOU, and knows your struggles.  He will be with us every step of the way–through the good, the bad, and the terrible.  He LOVES each of his children, I know that without a doubt.

You may wonder, “why are all my favorite bloggers Mormon?” I got together with some of those bloggers and we wrote our beliefs into a compiled document. If you would like a free copy, please e-mail Mariel, at ladies@oneshetwoshe.com, no strings attached. If not, that’s okay too.  I just wanted you to know more about me, who I am, and what I believe. I share a lot of myself on this blog, and my beliefs are such a big part of that.

I’m going to leave you with a song called “Glorious”, sung by David Archuleta in the movie. Music has always spoken to me more than anything else, and I think it’s the perfect way to share how I feel.

Share and save for later!

That is so scary! I am glad she is ok but I know that must have been beyond hard to watch your little girl suffer that way. Thank God for modern medicine too! I have always wondered why there are so many more Mormon bloggers out there compared to other religions. I will request a copy of that document because I would be interested to figure that mystery out. LOL

I am so glad your daughter is better. It is tough when they are sick and even harder when it is more extreme. Thankfully the gospel is there to help us get through things. Love the post and blog as always!
